Samuel Hughes

For quite some time now I have been focused on working with utility alleyways, loading docks, car parks and back of shop storage areas as musers for my practice.

In these places, convenience and utility vie for space; aesthetics are designed out by the hunters of fashion and commerce

-  Juxtapositions, chaos and incidental beauty.

The driving force for this work is a quest for social comment. Life has a myriad of different beautiful things, and the best are a surprise.

So when some one buys my work and hangs it on their wall, it should be working to remind them that the beautiful things of life aren’t always to be found in full view or in likely places.

- Influencers and outlook

I’m keen to see how the digital age will be consumed into the visual arts. I borrow from and admirer the impressionists for their vigour, and their love of common beauty, I Also draw from the bay area figurative in California with their colours and abstract heritage. Other artist include Jack Jefferson, Picasso and Daumier
